Swansea University METaL Project

METaL delivers advanced materials and manufacturing training through the provision of short, 10 credit courses at level 4 and above. Funded by the European Social Fund, through the Welsh Government.

The METaL Project are based within Swansea University’s College of Engineering, and are supported by the European Social Fund, through the Welsh Government.

The project provides work-based training for Welsh industry, focusing on advanced materials and manufacturing subject matter, with an ultimate goal of raising skills, boosting performance and productivity to drive the growing industrial sector in Wales.

Courses are delivered online in a flexible manner, and are fully accredited by Swansea University.

Course topics include Introduction to CAD, Environmental Impact & Sustainability and Corrosion & Coatings Technology amongst others.

Courses are currently free of charge for a limited time. In order to access this training you must currently be employed.

Since 2015 the project has worked with numerous businesses, and up-skilled over 900 employees.

'Introduction to Circular Economy' Course

This course explores the concept of sustainability, examines where we are in terms of global sustainability and how we have got to this point. Learn more about some of the most crucial global sustainability challenges and how circular economy offers us a solution to overcome them. Explore the concept of circular economy, its benefits, and how you can start to implement its principles in your own projects.

'Introduction to CAD' Course

This course is designed to give an overview into Computer Aided Design using both 3D & 2D design methods. The skills learned are generic and easily transferable to any modern parametric CAD system.

'Environmental Impact & Sustainability' Course

This course provides an outline of current environmental legislation and the influence industry has on the environment. Suitable for anyone wishing to gain an understanding of environmental impact and legislation.
